Life Love Lens - March Blog Circle

Rochester, Michigan Photographer

Who’s ready for spring? I know I am. We have had a major case of cabin fever the last couple weeks, but we finally dragged our butts out of the house a couple weekends ago to hit the DIA (Detroit Institute of Arts, for you non-locals). It was Violet’s first time…I wasn’t sure how she would do, but she absolutely loved it. I think her favorite part was talking loud and hearing her voice echo. Due to my complete lack of planning skills, we got there an hour before closing, so we didn’t get to stay too long, therefore, I didn't get a ton of pictures.  We will be back, and my loud, echoing kid!

Below are a few photos from our little outing. And today is Blog Circle day, so be sure to follow the links to all my photographer friends who are sharing, starting with Laura Acton!  In the year I've known Laura through this blog circle, she's taken so many great trips...I am so envious of her travels!  This month she is sharing images from her Paris trip, so be sure to check it out!

But first, here are photos from my exciting trip down to Detroit.  :)  First stop....we were hungry so we stopped for a bite at Green Dot Stables.  The light was non-existent inside the actual restaurant, but I captured these shots in the waiting area, where Violet slammed this lemonade in about 30 seconds.

On to the DIA!  This was right after we walked in and she was testing the acoustics.  :)

Not my favorite lighting situation for shooting (low light, artificial light), but I loved having all the beautiful art as my backdrop ...

And then I found the dreamiest light in this stairwell!  (Cue singing angels....)

 Closing time.

And then my favorite shot of the day happened right outside as we were walking to the car...

She's into non-matching gloves right now.  (And if I remember correctly, the socks she is wearing under those boots are non-matching as well.)

You guys don't see 90% of my photos where she is making faces like the one below.  She's such a goof.  #photographerschildsyndrome

Thanks for stopping by!  Don't forget to check out Laura's amazing Paris images and then click through the entire Blog Circle to see some fantastic photography!

My Funny Valentine :: February Blog Circle :: Metro Detroit Child Photographer

I recently re-worked our schedules so that Sundays are a completely free day for us. No extra-curricular activities, no plans, no nothing. I found I was constantly running on the weekends…always had some place to be…was always running late for something, and I was left with no time to recharge. So last Sunday, we experienced our first “free day” in quite some time. I made breakfast. We watched Frozen. We stayed in our pajamas well into the afternoon. I braided Violet’s hair like Elsa’s. She put on the homemade tutu I’ve been working on (which is still unfinished, but you only notice if you look at the back!). We worked on Valentine crafts. We went outside and made a snowman. It was the best day we’ve had in a while.

I wanted to share a few images from that wonderful Sunday with my little Valentine. And today is Blog Circle day (actually it's more of a square since we only have four photographers today!), so after you’re finished here, don’t forget to visit Emily Hutson to see what she's been up to. Thanks!

 The unfinished tutu...

There is something about this image below.  I think I need an oversize print or canvas of this one.

So, I bought a heart-shaped paper punch and it's been a big hit.  We were supposed to be working on Valentine's cards for her classmates, but she wanted to make this mask instead.

And so she became "The Valentine Bandit"

This little bandit stole my heart.

Thanks for stopping by!  Now, be sure to follow the links and see what my fellow photographer friends are sharing today...starting with Emily!

Bianca - Class of 2015 :: Life Love Lens - January {Metro Detroit Senior Portraits}

Happy New Year and welcome to another installment of Life Love Lens!  I have to admit, I was almost going to bail on my fellow photographers this month, and not participate in the blog circle.  Because, unfortunately, I barely picked up my camera over the holidays.  I know, I know...what kind of photographer does not try to capture every moment of Christmas & New Year's with their family???  Well...I guess this kind of photographer...aka, me.  I think prepping for Christmas, opening the studio, etc. left me a bit drained, and I just couldn't pick up the camera.  And that left me with no material for January blog circle. But then...I remembered that I have 500 or so images sitting on my hard drive from waaaay back in October.  That's when I shot my niece, Bianca's, senior portraits.  It's pretty much a photographer rule of thumb that family members have to wait like 5 times as long to get their photos, right??  ;)

I figured January blog circle was as good an excuse as any to dive into Bianca's photos and finally share a few.  When you are done checking these out, please head over to Theresa Hermus' blog and then click through to all the other fabulous photographers that participate in the circle.  Your eyes will thank you.  :)

And here is the oh so lovely, Bianca...

If you see a red brick wall, you have to shoot in front of it...right?

Hands favorite shot of Bianca right here....

I mean, come she gorgeous or what???

Bianca!!  I'm sorry this took me so long to share a sneak peek for you!   There will be many more to come, my dear.   Love you!!  xo ~ denise
